Be Thankful

Be Thankful

As we watch so many things happening around us,
it is often hard to stop and remember all the
good we have in our lives that we can be thankful for.
Even if it is a warm place to curl up at night
or someone to put a smile on your face each day.

But this holiday is the perfect opportunity
to recognize the good things we have.

The Thanksgiving holiday began when pilgrims and
Native Americans gathered together to
celebrate a successful harvest.
It was held in the fall and was a three-day feast.
Today, the custom continues as
Americans and Canadians celebrate
Thanksgiving to give thanks for all they have.
The traditional feast includes a turkey along with
other delicious sides and desserts.

This Thanksgiving as you sit down with your family
and friends to enjoy that delicious Thanksgiving Dinner
don't forget to share with them the many things
you are thankful for.

Happy Birthday America

Independence Day
is America's birthday
and it is celebrated on July 4th
each year since 1776!

On this day, it is customary to
fly the American Flag
and adorn yourself in
Red, White and Blue
to show your patriotism.
It is customary to celebrate
with barbeques, picnics,
fun with family and friends,
and fireworks booming
into the night sky.

In 1776, approximately 2.5 million
people lived in America.
Today, more than 300 million people
live in the
United States of America.

The Fourth of July includes
such foods as Hotdogs,
Hamburgers, Watermelon, Cherries,
and Apple and Cherry pies.

The Fourth of July is
a day to celebrate our
freedom!

Holiday Headquarters
wishes you and your families
a safe and fun
Independence Day!

July 4, 1776

Thirteen Colonies in North American each established
a government within the colony to govern themselves
but still recognized their inclusion of the British Empire.
During the last half of the 18th century, These thirteen
Colonies fought to legally separate from Great Britain.

Paul Revere's Midnight Ride on April 18, 1776 warned the
colonies that the British were coming.  The British invaded
with their powerful navy to block the coast.

George Washington, the American Commander, worked
with the governments and states and led his army
to claim the thirteen Colonies.

The Governments from each colony then met to write the
Declaration of Independence.  On July 4, 1776, John Hancock,
John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and 52 others
signed the United States Declaration of Independence which marked
the day when Congress unanimously approved it.

John Adams wrote a letter to his wife stating that this day
would be the most memorable day in history and that it
should be "commemorated as the day of solemn acts of devotion
to God almighty and should be celebrated with pomp and parade,
with shows, games, sports, bells, bonfires, and illuminations,
from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."

From that day forward, the Fourth of July has
become a day of celebration that is celebrated across the
entire United States.  It is a day filled of freedom celebrated
by parades, good food with family and friends and fireworks
displays come with load booms and light up the sky
from sea to shining sea.

Downright Awesome Dude

Downright Awesome Dude

Fathers are very special in so many ways.
And whether you call yours Father, Pops, Dad, or Daddy
they all are an amazing man who has shown us love.

Dads are role models.
For Daddy's Little Girl, he treats her like a princess
and teaches her the value of love.
Love he shows not only to her but to her mother as well.

Dads are heros.
For Daddy's Little Boy, he guides him and teaches
him how to take care of the house
and shows him how to pursue his dreams.

So this year when you are buying Dad

a brand new wallet

or a brand new tie set

or a brand new pair of slippers

or anything else,
make sure to celebrate DAD
and all the special gifts he has given you!
