Kickoff the Football Season

Labor Day weekend marks the beginning of the College Football Season! Thousands of Football players prepare to take on their opponent and hopefully make it all the way to the NCAA Championship game.  Millions of Football Fans prepare to cheer for their home town school.  Coaches all across the country will be motivating their team towards a championship. Cheerleaders will lead the fans in cheers and encourage the players to continue to give their best.  The band and the Pom Pom Girls will lead the stadium as they sing the teams fight song and the School Mascot will help promote school spirit.

There are so many things we can learn from Football that we can use each and every day of our lives.

1. Optimism - A positive attitude helps us take on challenges and helps us believe we can succeed.  The football team has to be positive and believe that they can win games.  We too should believe in ourselves and believe in others so that we can spread smiles and help encourage people everywhere we go.

2.  Motivation -  Just like the coach of a football team, it is important to help motivate people through life.  Sometimes it feels like a mountain we have to climb just to get through the day. Many people are dealing with hard times and may need a pep talk to help stimulate them and inspire them towards greatness.

3.  Leadership - Just like the quarterback on the team, we must be good leaders and set good examples. If the quarterback does not model the way in the huddle, the team will not have confidence that he knows what he is talking about.  Become the person other people want to follow and Just be Awesome!

4.  Teamwork-  Together Everyone Achieves More!  A football team must form a cohesive bond as a group all performing together to achieve the goal of scoring touchdowns.  In life, we are all on the same team and should work together to help and support our family, friends, and anyone we meet because alone we can do so little but together we can do so much.  Teamwork makes the dream work!

5.  Perseverance  -  What would happen if the football players gave up after their first loss?  We should never give up and be hopeful that we can continue to get better in our relationships, friendships, jobs, etc.  Facing obstacles can be discouraging but we must move on and continue striving for achievement of our goals.

6.  Recognition -  It is so very important to encourage each other and celebrate wins!  Just like the football team celebrates winning the big game, we should also celebrate wins that occur in our or other people's lives no matter how big or how small they are.  Recognition of a job well done is what helps encourage us to keep going!

Holiday Headquarters hopes that you enjoy watching the Boys of Fall and kickoff the Football season with the determination to score many touchdowns both on the field and off the field!

The Boys of Fall
by Kenny Chesney

When I feel that chill, smell that fresh cut grass
I'm back in my helmet, cleats, and shoulder pads
Standing in the huddle, listening to the call
Fans going crazy for the boys of fall

They didn't let just anybody in that club
Took every ounce of heart and sweat and blood
To get to wear those game-day jerseys down the hall
The kings of the school, man, we're the boys of fall

Well it's turn to face the stars and stripes
It's fighting back them butterflies
It's call it in the air, alright
Yes sir, we want the ball
And it's knocking heads and talking trash
It's slinging mud and dirt and grass

It's I got your number, I got your back
When your back's against the wall
you mess with one man, you got us all
The Boys of Fall

In little towns like mine, that's all they've got
Newspaper clippings fill the coffee shops
The old men will always think they know it all
Young girls will dream about the boys of fall

Well it's turn and face the stars and stripes
It's fighting back them butterflies
it's call it in the air, alright
Yes sir, we want the ball

And it's knocking heads and talking trash
It's slinging mud and dirt and grass
It's I got your number, I got your back
When your back's against the wall
You mess with one man, you got us all
The boys of fall

Well it's turn and face the stars and stripes
It's fighting back them butterflies
it's call it in the air, alright
Yes sir, we want the ball

And it's knocking heads and talking trash
It's slinging mud and dirt and grass
It's I got your number, I got your back
When your back's against the wall
You mess with one man, you got us all

Back to School

Kids are headed back to school  and ready to embrace another year of learning to read and write. We are taught at an early age to dress for success.  Each year tons of children get new school clothes to help them look their best and feel good about school.  New school supplies teach the child to be prepared and ready to get the job done.  Their new clothes and school supplies will help give them the confidence to meet their new teachers and find new friends.  They will also help give them the courage to take on the challenges of gaining knowledge year after year.

Learning is a life-long process and doesn't just happen at school.  It is extremely important for parents to love their children and teach them about love.  Encourage your child to help other students and show appreciation for their teachers on a regular basis.  In order for a child to show love towards others, they must learn what love is and how love feels.   The beginning of the school year is a perfect time to teach your child about love because a person needs to embrace love to be willing to learn.  Teach your child to love their friends and teachers. Teach them to smile and laugh and have a positive outlook on life in order to inspire them towards greatness and be all that they can be.  Reward your child for good grades and their random acts of kindness throughout the school year. This will encourage them to continue the behavior and learn to love and spread love to everyone they meet.
